Bench-Scale and Slipstream Development and Testing of Post-Combustion Carbon Dioxide Capture and Separation Technology for Application to Existing Coal-Fired Power Plants — This FOA is specifically focused on developing advanced technologies for CO2 capture and purification that can be retrofitted to existing pulverized-coal (PC) power plants. This is driven by the fact that existing coal-fired power plants produce a large fraction of current CO2 emissions from all fossil-fuel-based sources, and almost 6 GW of the existing coal-fired fleet is projected to retire by 2035. Therefore, it is possible that future climate-change regulations could target a reduction in CO2 emissions from the existing fleet of coal boilers. Read more

How To Do Business With The Federal Government
August 19, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
By Erica Courtney
(Advantage Business Magazine, August 5, 2010) We have seen the statistics. The federal government spends more than $550 billion on goods and services annually. That is $10,000 per second, every minute of every day. This is normal spending and does not even include the $787 billion recovery package passed by Congress last year to jump-start the economy. In addition, there are millions being spent on disaster recovery/natural disaster events. Have you thought about penetrating the government marketplace? Perhaps it is time to stop thinking about it and do it. While you sit and wait, your competition is most likely figuring out what they need to do to be successful in this space. By Greg Bluestein and Harry R. Weber – (Washington Times, August 4, 2010) BP claimed a key milestone Wednesday in the effort to plug its blown-out well as a government report said much of the spilled oil is gone, heartening officials who have taken heat during the tricky cleanup but leaving some Gulf Coast residents still skeptical. BP PLC reported that mud forced down the well overnight was pushing the crude back down to its source for the first time since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded off Louisiana on April 20, killing 11 workers. And a federal report being released Wednesday indicated that only about a quarter of the spilled oil remains in the Gulf, with the rest having been contained, cleaned up or otherwise disappeared. President Obama, while noting that people’s lives “have been turned upside down,” declared in Washington that the operation was “finally close to coming to an end.” Click here to read more…
